An outstanding Antique Japanese Stencil from late Edo era (1850 to 1883). A beautiful and precise artwork by a highly skilled artisan which was used to apply designs to kimono silks.

Each stencil is hand made using mulberry bark and hand excised. It is then smoke cured over many weeks.
Double mounted with a 3 dimensional effect to Museum conservation standard. Print tipped to acid free foam core backing and mat by rice paper hinges upper corners and wheatflour starch adhesive and True Vue 99% Anti UV Glass.
